You're probably on the hunt to find the best person to document your wedding day, but we would love to take a minute and let you know how to make your experience better. Generally speaking, wedding photographers are in the business of love. There's something unparalleled and appealing about documenting the union of two amazing people, and it's an honor photographers don't take lightly.
We specialize in rustic and outdoor wedding photography in Alaska. We’re based in Anchorage Alaska, but travel to Seattle, Arkansas, Texas, Missouri, Hawaii and beyond to document the weddings of our amazing clients.
Our shooting manifesto is photo-journalistic. We don’t want to interfere or choreograph, we want to capture the feeling and personality of the day. We care more about a shot capturing a moment and evoking an emotion than getting sharp focus or finding the best lighting. I’d much rather see a photo that connects with the viewer than is executed technically well and we hope our clients do too.”
The duo have been shooting together since 2011, and care a lot about the emotion of the moment when it comes to their images. To that end, they see themselves as storytellers. “Having two photographers (as opposed to a photographer and an assistant) allows us to be in two different places at the same time.
Do you deliver every image you shoot?
No, we do not. We eliminate duplicate images, test shots, missed focused shots, shots with bad expressions and other images that may dilute the overall product delivery. For example, because we shoot with low apertures, sometimes we take a few extra shots to make sure we have the perfect focus. We don’t expect you to have the expertise or the time to zoom into each image to select the one with the sharpest focus, so we spend hours doing that on our end. In another example, candid laughs and emotional tears are some of the best images from the day. Unfortunately, they can also yield some unflattering facial expressions. We might snap a few extras of any of these moments to make sure we have a great shot with the ideal expression for the moment. With our expertise of processing millions of images each year, we may eliminate ones that we feel are duplicates and only deliver the best one.

You’ve seen the wedding blogs, the bridal magazines, the professional looking shots on Facebook of your engaged friends laughing and kissing each other with the sun setting behind them. It’s officially called engagement photography, but essentially it’s a just a chance for a professional photographer to capture two people in love who wants to share it with the world, or even just between themselves. More than that, it’s an opportunity for you to work with Blue Iris Photography for the first time. It’s an opportunity for you to see how we shoot and for us to get to know you better as a couple. If you haven’t had a photographer move within inches of you to take a photograph, it can be a bit intimidating at first. It’s a good way for us to help you get comfortable in front of the camera so that there are no surprises on your big day.
When it comes to planning for sessions, seniors are some of my favorite people to work with. Don’t get us wrong, we love families, children, engaged couples and wedding ceremonies.. but seniors are close to the top of our list.
Why, you may ask? It’s simple: seniors are excited to model and have a great sense of style, which translates well in their photographs.
When a high school senior books a session with us, we do several things right from the start to help them know we are excited about working with them.We also do our best to get to know them so we can tailor their shoot to fit them perfectly.
Do you photograph yearbook headshots?
Check your school’s guidelines for yearbook headshots. If you are allowed to select your own image to submit from your senior portrait session, then we can photograph any type of image that you would like for your yearbook.
How long do you keep my image files?
We try to keep all images archived for a period of 6 months, but once the images are downloaded from our link they become the client’s responsibility.
Our modeling portfolio session is designed around each individual’s needs. Your current portfolio is taken into consideration in order to update it with fresh photos that will expand your client base. For new models, a plan is put in place that will create a number of looks designed to attract an agent in your target marketplace.
How much do modeling head shots cost?
Modeling and Fashion shoots are completely custom, therefore we require a consultation in order to discuss pricing.
Do you do TFP work?
Please contact us via email at firstname.lastname@example.org for further information on this.
How many wardrobe changes are there?
Play it safe with solid, dark colors. Or be creative with bright colors. The more you bring to your shoot the better it will be. If you don’t feel comfortable wearing it, don't bring it. If you find yourself questioning whether or not something will work, just bring it! I'll finalize the selections specifically to your needs.
Documenting those special moments between family and friends.
Our modern day, image-obsessed culture has got us consuming a large quantity of architecture through photographs, as opposed to physical, spatial experiences. The advantages of architectural photography are great; it allows people to obtain a visual understanding of buildings they may never get the opportunity to visit in their lifetime, creating a valuable resource that allows us to expand our architectural vocabulary.
